The town without the dead, the city where people live underground or the village of Chinese dwarves are some of the most exotic small towns in the world. Let’s check out!
Coober Pedy, Australia
Coober Pedy is an opal mining town, built underground and established in 1915. The miners here decided to build a house for this location because of the temperature. The ground can be up to 51 degrees C. The town has underground shops, churches, galleries and even the first 4-star hotel in the world.
Colma, California, USA
Colma is home to 17 cemeteries with 1.5 million graves but only about 1,800 people live here. This happened because Colma was the burial place for the dead San Francisco residents, after San Francisco decided not to build a new cemetery.
About 32 km from Shanghai, Thames town is the perfect replica of an English town with cobbled streets and ancient architecture. Completed in 2006, this town is virtually uninhabited and becomes the location for wedding photography by many couples.
Elista, Kalmykia, Russia
Elista is also known as the “chess city” and is an attractive place for chess lovers. The whole city is built on the theme of chess, even in the middle of the city square there is a giant chessboard.
Dwarf village, China
Residents of this special village have no one taller than 130 cm. People who live here have built the village as a place to avoid the ridicule and talk of people about their looks. Today, the village is complete with its own police and fire forces. At the same time, the people here decided to build their houses in a unique shape, making this place a tourist attraction and creating income for themselves.
