1. Lazybones Town

With historic towns, idyllic beaches, sunny climates and diverse landscapes, the Philippines quickly emerged as a destination to compete with Southeast Asian tourist hotspots, such as Thailand and Indonesia.

2. Baclayon

Baclayon is the first municipality to be established on the island of Bohol, founded by the Spaniards at the end of the 16th century. The main attraction of this charming town is the Cathedral of Baclayaon, which is a national cultural treasure. as well as a national historical monument.

Although this historic church was severely damaged during the 2013 earthquake, its adjacent museum remains open to discovery. In addition to the church, the town has dozens of lovely Spanish colonial houses, dating from 1853. Baclayon is an ideal base for excursions to whales and dolphins to nearby Pamilacan island.

3. Daraga

Daraga is an ancient town located in southeastern Luzon. This rural town is located under the shadow of Mount Mayon, with Daraga church located on a hill overlooking a volcano. Built in 1773, the church is built of volcanic rock and has some intricately carved reliefs on its columns.

Just northwest of the town is Cagsawa Cathedral, one of the region’s most iconic locations. In the early 19th century, hundreds of people sought refuge in the church in a devastating eruption of Mayon Mountain, but were killed when lava engulfed the building. The rest of the church looks quite haunting in the context of the green fields and towering Mayon mountains.
